As were left with only 10 days for the massive face-off between the resilient kiwis led by Kane Williamson and power packed Indian team led by none other than Virat Kohli, here are some quick go-throughs:

Venue: The Rose Bowl, Southampton, England

Date: 18th June to 22nd June 2021

Umpires: Richard Illingworth, Michael Gough, Richard Kettleborough (Third Empire), Chris Broad (Match Referee), Alex Wharf (Fourth Official)

Commentators: Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Kartik (known till now)

The Kiwis impressed everyone recently with their performance in the first test match against England at Lords. The batting line-up was led by Devon Conway’s brilliance, hitting a double ton on his debut at Lords, surpassing highest scores of not more than 50 of greats like Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. Tim Southee shone with a brilliant six-fer, claiming that he can be a major threat to the Indian Batting line-up in the grand finale. Tim Southee was given a helping hand by Kyle Jamieson.

On the other hand, the Indian team has truly recovered from the shortage of their regular line-up players. After demolishing the Kangaroos on their home soil, they will battle it out with the Kiwis with unmatchable confidence.

We shall have a look at the squads now,

Pitch Report:

The test pitch of The Rose Bowl Cricket Stadium is for bowlers and fast bowlers, as well as spin bowlers, enjoy bowling on this pitch and bowlers get mostly help from the pitch. It’s a little easier batting on this pitch in the first days of the test but once the match moves to the last days of the test match, the pitch starts to provide more help to fast bowlers and they get more swing and bounce from the pitch. Spin bowlers get good turn and bounce as well and spin attack is very dangerous on the 4th and 5th days of the test match. The pitch is a paradise for batsmen in the first innings and so the team that wins the toss at The Rose Bowl Cricket Stadium usually decides to bat first to put up a winning score in the scorecard.

If the weather is cloudy then bowlers will get more help from the conditions of the pitch and ground.

Here are the last 5 test matches average scores of all 4 Innings at the Rose Bowl Southampton Ground:

  • Test Matches 1st Innings Average Score – 300 runs

  • Test Matches 2nd Innings Average Score – 324 runs

  • Test Matches 3rd Innings Average Score – 280 runs

  • Test Matches 4th Innings Average Score – 187 runs

Conclusion : The team which will win the toss will look to bat first.
