Norway is about to build world's first ship tunnel. After years of planning, the Norwegian Costal Adminstration received an approval to proceed with the project. The construction is estimated to begin in 2022.
The project will be constructed over Stadhavet peninsula in north west. The motive of the project is to make travel safe for the ships crossing dangerous waters of Stadhavet sea. Geographically Stadhavet sea is known for high waves, all from different directions. The project will be 1.7 km long and 118 feet wide. It should allow all vessel ships to travel safely and without any delay.
The project is expected to complete within 3 years with cost of $330 million.
