We always talk about strikers in football as being the main players however in this segment i am going to talk about the lesser appreciated players without whom their teams would surely struggle. These are players who quietly do their work and always go unnoticed.
1. Pierre Emile Ho jbjerg( Tottenham Hotspur)- Little did many people know about this guy before this season. Joined Tottenham Hotspur from Southampton for a fee of 3 million which now seems like a bargain. The danish midfielder has been the missing piece in spurs midfield. He does all the dirty work, makes the tackles, helps the centre backs out and he already a undounted starter in Jose Mourinhos starting xi.
Kurt Zouma( Chelsea) - After facing a lot of criticism last season, fast forward one year and Zouma Issa changed player. He has made a formidable duo with veteran Thiago Silva and together they have looked solid. Apart from defending zouma has been among the goals scoring 4 in the premier league so far, not bad for a centre back I guess.
Lucas Vazquez (Real Madrid)- This man would not have been on this list had it not been the right back injury crisis at Real Madrid. With Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola injured it steps Lucas Vazquez and makes that position his own. Now because of his Consistent performances, he has pushed Odriozola further down the pecking order and he came in asa blessing for Zinidine Zidane. From nearly leaving the club in summer to reportedly on the verge of signing a 3 year contract. This Season has been a blessing for Lucas Vazquez ,
Weston Mckenie (Juventus)- At first not much was expected from Mckenie as little was known about him but as the season has progressed the American has been an important part of Andrea Pirlos plans. He comes up with goals in crucial matches, links up play with Ronaldo and Chiesa, finds pockets of space and has a lot of pace. Just the type of player Andrea Pirlo needed and definitely a one for the future.
Pedri Gonzalez (FC Barcelona)- Pedri came in from Las Palmas to Fc Barcelona in the Summer initially as a normal squad player who wasn't expected to do much. Come January Pedri has cemented his place in Barca 's starting xi and is also a essential component for the catalan outfit. His best quality being finding spaces and linking up with Leo Messi. He has been so good recently people think he has shades of a certain Andres Iniesta. Stats may not do the justification required for this wizard. Only time will tell if he will be a club legend or be able to maintain this consistency.
